One type of motivation that both the reading and video talked about was overcoming challenges. I think this can be applied to video games and the real world. Often when we can do something we will try over and over to get better and eventually accomplish what we were trying to do. Or we can try different ways to reach the same goal. In video games you always want to get to the next level or get that reward, so you have work on your strategies, or skills to over come the challenge you're facing, like practicing or trying different ways to win. Another type of motivation talked about was emotional motivation. Which is that people can be motivated to move away or towards a certain emotion for satisfaction. Video games often relive stress, and make people focus on other things rather than what is going on in their life that may be painful for them.
