The couple I chose to talk about is Troy and Gabrielle from High School Musical. In the movies they are the "perfect couple" that gets through everything together. In every movie they have at least one obstacle they over come together. Their relationship is sort of teaching us that everything isn't always going to be smooth and easy. They also show us that being together isn't always easy, they have many people trying to break them up, or get in between their relationship for various reasons! Although as a couple they do have some truths in their relationship to real life, its also very fake. Not many people stay with one person all throughout high school and college. Its also rare that you meet someone one time and suddenly you're like in love with them! Those kind of things, set us up for having way too high of hopes and dreams..which goes into fake love. Disney movies are a really bad culprit of depicting fake love, they make it seem so easy and carefree. When in reality its not like that at all, love is not always easy!

    I agree with both sides of that argument, in a sense the relationship between Troy and Grabrielle can teach us that it is possible to stay with a single partner through your education in high school and college but also may not be realistic. The way they meet as in most shows in highly unrealistic, their ability to overcome anything is also a trait that few relationships in real life would hold.

    I sgree with you on the fact about Gabrielle and troy have to overcome so many obstacles and how the the stay together even throughtout high schopl. Its also unrealistic how the show the couple being able to get through anything

Out of the 4 themes, I chose home & social life. I chose that one because I think there is lot of recurring problems that are seen all over the world. While they particularly focus on South Korea, the US has the same issues with technology. Kids depend on phones like they're a lifeline. In South Korea they even talked about people dying because they've spent so much time on the computer, without eating or drinking for days! Digital Nation showed a family where the child spent all of his free time on the computer. And his mom couldn't get him to stop, she started noticing that he wouldn't even hold conversations with her anymore. They would sit down for dinner, not say word and he would get right back up and go back to the computer. The mom expressed how worried she was about losing her son completely. Brand identity is the way we judge others by what they're wearing and the way certain types of clothing or certain brands have the stigma for the people that wear them. It's becoming an issue because we will often judge people and sometimes judge them harshly because of what they are or aren't wearing! For example when we talked about basketball shorts in class, we often associate that will athletic or sporty people. Or when we see people with luxury brands draped all over their body, we assume they have a good amount of money. And I think the worst part is that we do subconsciously, its just an automatic response when we see people, we may not judge verbally, but we all do it inside our heads! A store that I typically shop at is Buckle, it targets teens and young adults.
