The first video we watched in class talked about Justin Bieber and his photo shopping incident with Calvin Klein. His "package" and muscles looked as if they were blown up or made larger, than in a picture released. The picture that had been released claimed to have been the original photo. Now in the video they said that Justin and his team completely denied the fact that it might have been photo shopped! The image of celebrity is to pretty much be perfect in all aspects, and that's what I think the hosts of the video were trying to address. Celebrities aren't always perfect, everyone has flaws, but who are we to criticize that. On a another note usually when celebrities get caught being photo shopped they usually either release the original photo themselves. Or they admit that it was photo shopped and move on. It's no secret that most photo shoots have some type of photo shop, especially when it comes to underwear shoots like CK. It's known to most people that things like socks were sometimes used in shoots to enhance the "bulge" down there. The media made it seem like it was such a big deal, when it shouldn't have been. Its not really any body's business what someone else really looks like in certain areas of their body!

Now in the second video we watched she explained that after seeing the "real" version of the photo, Justin Bieber looked like a normal teenager. She also mentioned that blogs and other media forms went crazy mocking him about being "too small." And how women are not usually made fun of for being too small, its usually the opposite... being "too big." She also explains that being a "real" man is described by having all these muscles and powerful! Going into the sector of men being the dominant gender. I think that the expectations of each gender are sometimes ridiculous, we have all these stigmas with men and women and their body image.

    I agree that the expectation of each genders are ridiculous. Everyone should be embracing their bodies not feeling like they should hide them.

Out of the 4 themes, I chose home & social life. I chose that one because I think there is lot of recurring problems that are seen all over the world. While they particularly focus on South Korea, the US has the same issues with technology. Kids depend on phones like they're a lifeline. In South Korea they even talked about people dying because they've spent so much time on the computer, without eating or drinking for days! Digital Nation showed a family where the child spent all of his free time on the computer. And his mom couldn't get him to stop, she started noticing that he wouldn't even hold conversations with her anymore. They would sit down for dinner, not say word and he would get right back up and go back to the computer. The mom expressed how worried she was about losing her son completely. It gets to a point where being on a phone or computer for that long is just ridiculous. So South Korea created a camp, it lasts about 2 weeks and its technology free. ...

The couple I chose to talk about is Troy and Gabrielle from High School Musical. In the movies they are the "perfect couple" that gets through everything together. In every movie they have at least one obstacle they over come together. Their relationship is sort of teaching us that everything isn't always going to be smooth and easy. They also show us that being together isn't always easy, they have many people trying to break them up, or get in between their relationship for various reasons! Although as a couple they do have some truths in their relationship to real life, its also very fake. Not many people stay with one person all throughout high school and college. Its also rare that you meet someone one time and suddenly you're like in love with them! Those kind of things, set us up for having way too high of hopes and dreams..which goes into fake love. Brand identity is the way we judge others by what they're wearing and the way certain types of clothing or certain brands have the stigma for the people that wear them. It's becoming an issue because we will often judge people and sometimes judge them harshly because of what they are or aren't wearing! For example when we talked about basketball shorts in class, we often associate that will athletic or sporty people. Or when we see people with luxury brands draped all over their body, we assume they have a good amount of money. And I think the worst part is that we do subconsciously, its just an automatic response when we see people, we may not judge verbally, but we all do it inside our heads! A store that I typically shop at is Buckle, it targets teens and young adults.
